You don’t want your first encounter to be one-dimensional and full of boring questions like, “what’s your favorite color?” Instead, you should consider sharing an interesting story or two – it tells your date a lot more about you and will encourage them to share with you also.
3. Avoid making negative or critical statements.
In order to connect on the first date, you need to build a positive vibe.
Negative or critical statements can unintentionally change the tone of the conversation and prevent you from making a connection.
Even if you had a really tough day at work, try to frame it in a positive light. “Today was a tough day at the office, but I’m sure tomorrow will go smoother.”
4. Don’t be afraid to talk about your feelings.
Part of making a connection with another person is based on emotions. Talk about the things that have made an impact on your life and helped you become the person that you are.
Being passionate about something is always healthy and attractive trait. Plus, if you open up about yourself then your date will become more comfortable and likely to open up as well.
5. Use the appropriate body language.
Body language is an essential aspect of nonverbal and verbal communication.
For example, if you are both sitting at a bar, turn towards the other person so that you are facing them and showing them that you are interested and paying attention to them.
